The Perfect Fit

For six years I’ve been in what I thought was the perfect fit: owning my own consulting firm and helping churches. Now, with changes in the economy and churches feeling the pinch in giving/contributions, my clients have simply put “on hold” new opportunities until they see what happens with their finances. As a business owner, I don’t have to be told “no”; merely “not yet” is enough to bring business to a halt.

During the past six-year season of my life, this was the perfect fit. I’m now looking to the next season of my life and the next perfect fit!

So, what next? That’s the question I’ve been wrestling with, sometimes asking God, sometimes engaged in argument with Him (I never win…you’d think I’d learn), always wanting to just have a clear, definitive answer. God, as usual, helps me to understand that His ways and His timing aren’t based on my linear kronos. During this time of working hard, doing everything I know to drive business, increasing value for my clients and seeking God for answers, I’ve had some revelations. I’d like to share them with you and see what you think.

I’m wired to lead, engage and be a change agent catalyst. That’s the DNA wiring job done by my Creator. This leads me to the natural desire to accomplish work, lead people and create more effective organizations. Said another way, it seems logical that I work within my passions. But is that true? Or do I need to lay my passions down at the altar and let God bring a new passion to my heart?

Leadership is a gift, management is an art, metrics (measuring effectiveness) is a science. Those skill and innate abilities combined with experiences through consulting, sales management, project management, marketing & promotions and presenting/teaching should be transcendent. Those gifts and skills should transfer to any number of jobs/careers. What say you?

The digital divide is leaving many organizations/companies in the dark. As someone who’s been speaking to the digital culture, leveraging the leading tools and teaching others how to engage, communicate and interact with their communities, these skills are essential to any organization embracing the present-future. I should be well-suited to help lead teams in transitioning from old models into new ones or to help lead organizations into new levels of effectiveness.

The future is wide open. I don’t plan on closing the door to my many friends, peers and associates. God has given me incredible favor and a wealth of insight over the years. Much of that has been captured on both this, my newest blog and on my old blog (now full of hundreds of archives), as well as in dozens of magazines and online articles that I’ve written since 1994. Until God makes my changes complete, I’ll continue to beĀ  available to help churches, ministries and organizations.

I’m ready to embrace the next stage of life and see what God’s got in store! I’d appreciate your prayers, recommendations and introductions as I step forward into the future unknown. Please don’t be shy. I really want to hear from you!

The job hunt is in full swing! Here’s a link to my resume (really, my CV) to make it easy for ya: http://www.anthonycoppedge.com/pdffiles/ADC_Resume.pdf

You will be in my prayers as well. I agree with others that your insight and knowledge have been invaluable and have helped me raise the bar on the service we provide our congregation and our outreach.
There are deinitely needs for talent such as yours in this world. Many organizations are struggling to understand and adapt to the world as it exists today and plan for the future.
    Blessings to you.
    Dave

Will be praying for you. I agree with Chris in that you will be picked up quickly. If it is in the secular world, then the Lord has plans for you. Be prepared to be a mighty and effective instrument for Him. Thank you as I have learned so much from you.
    By His grace,
    >Ray
